Tram named after Ludwik and Hanna Hirszfeld

The Ludwik and Hanna Hirszfeld tram has been running on the streets of Wrocław since Friday, December 13th, 2024. Giving trams the names of famous and respected Wrocław residents is already a city tradition. For the academic community, for the residents of Wrocław, it is a great honor – appreciation of the extraordinary achievements of eminent scientists who are the creators of Wrocław medicine. Professor Ludwik Hirszfeld – an outstanding bacteriologist and immunologist, creator of the Polish school of immunology and a new field of science – seroanthropology, and Prof. Hanna Hirszfeld – an outstanding doctor, specialist in pediatrics, scientist, polyglot. Both of them created Wrocław medicine in 1945, the Wrocław Medical University.
