Almost 170 of the best students of the Wroclaw Medical University will receive scholarships under the so-called incentive system. The first funds from the National Resilience Recovery Plan (KPO) have already been transferred to the university’s account. In total, WMU has obtained over PLN 9.3 million for future medical staff.
– We have signed agreements with the Ministry of Health and received the first installments from the KPO for the payment of scholarships under two actions of the “System of incentives to start and continue studies in selected medical fields and take up employment in the profession for the years 2022-2026” – says Joanna Kluza, head of the Student Affairs Department at the Wroclaw Medical University. – Today, the funds were transferred to students covered by the first action.
This means that scholarships have already been awarded to students of medicine, dentistry, medical analytics, pharmacy and physiotherapy, who began their studies in the academic year 2022/2023. The best of them will receive PLN 3,000 per month for three years of studies (until June 2025). When distributing the funds, those who were in the highest places on the ranking lists during the recruitment process, achieved an average grade of at least 4.0 in the first and second year of studies and did not repeat a year and are not on dean’s leave were taken into account.
– The second group includes students of nursing, midwifery and emergency medical services, who are entitled to a PLN 1,500 monthly scholarship on the same terms, with the funds being paid in both cases for the academic year, i.e. from October to June – adds Joanna Kluza.
For Action 1, the Wroclaw Medical University will receive PLN 5.994 million to be divided among 74 students. The same number of people will receive scholarships under Action 2 for a total amount of PLN 2.997 million. The university is also waiting for the payment of PLN 390 thousand, which will be allocated to 20 people who study part-time in the field of nursing (PLN 6.5 thousand per year of studies).

Over PLN 170 million has been reserved for this purpose in the KPO. The aim of the “System of incentives to start and continue studies in selected medical fields and to take up employment in the profession for the years 2022-2026” is, among others, to increase the number of medical personnel.
